Sponsor Education Fees

We all know that lack of proper education has been the root cause of many social problems. Enough quotes and theories have been floating around to support this arguement.

Here is an opportunity to put it in practice! There is an estimated 10% population of Bangalore residing in slums, making it around 1 million by the end of 2010. Some of you may believe that these slums are treated as vote bank by politicians and hence are better-off in finance matters since the last decade. But, this "vote for money" has only increased unemployment, further stressing that the young kids indeed need better education to deal with this problem too.

Anyways, coming back to the issue we are discussing, Jaigopal Garodia Rashtrotthana Vidya Kendra In Ramurthy Nagar, Bangalore has come up with a good school for the who can not afford higher fees for quality education. You must see their school building to believe it. The school offers good education by dedicated teachers for a mere annual fees of Rs. 2,000.

Alas, there are quite some parents who can not even afford this much!

To solve this problem further, we have an initiative for you to support the education of these kids. The problem with sponsorship so far was, as a donor I never knew where and how my money was used. Once I donate, I would hardly get updates on the kids' progress.

We are now offering you the sponsored kids' information on-line. Yes, you will be given a log-in and password to track your sponsored kids' progress. In addition, you will have two opportunities an year to spend time with the kids. Of course, your contact details are not disclosed to the kid and to the parents avoid other problems.

We have an opportunity to support education of four kids for this year. Please let us know if you are interested in this initiative.

Namaste!

This year’s Independence Day celebration had a different meaning for volunteers staying in Domlur/Indiranagar region. For the second year in the row, support for educating the poor was taken up. The volunteers had gathered financial support from friends and colleagues to provide school kits to the needy children at Domlur Slum.

School kits were sponsored by friends and donors in IT industry. The event was coordinated by Thyagaraj-Ji. This committed person has very good understanding of slum dwellers and status of each family. He handpicked 130 children, who longed for external support – even to own a school bag and books. Each school kit contains one school bag, six notebooks of 200 pages each and a geometry box.

The event coincided Independence Day celebrations. The function was presided by Suresh-Ji.

We now have a plan to reach out to 150 children. The year also marks the third anniversary of the initiative. Pour in your contributions to help the needy.

Shubham,
Raghu
